Great column, Dan. We definitely need to start bootlegging Chick-fil-a, but I imagine it's hard to cook chicken in a still. Hmmmm.
Pulitzer? If this piece draws the attention necessary to end this long local nightmare, I say bring on the Nobel. Maybe not the Peace Prize, but Literature would work...or Physics - nobody pays attention to Physics anyway.

Ah yes, in addition to being hard-hitting and brave, it was also well-researched and informative. I was remiss in not acknowledging the work of my research staff in the original post. Beers are forthcoming.
I too have fond memories of the free samples at the Mall. However, the pessimist in me forces me to ask if it is possible that in the time Chick-fil-a has been gone has the quality of their bird also diminished? (Hardees used to serve an awesome turkey deluxe and giant roast beef but they screwed around and ruined them.) Or is it possible that one of the 10,000 restaurants that now proudly serve strips 'o chicken do it as well as Chick-fil-a used to do it?
How about that first can of Coors? I couldn't wait to get my first Coors. After I got it I couldn't spit it out fast enough.

I can assure you that the quality of Chick-Fil-A has not diminished. Sure you can get a sub par one every now and again, but that’s attributable to cooker error and I would hope that they have a policy of immediately terminating employees who screw up the delectability.
I too was a Hardee’s Turkey Deluxe fan, until they reduced by three-fourths the amount of turkey on each sandwich, and I believe they eliminated the bacon. As for the roast beef, the last time I ordered one there wasn’t enough meat to completely cover the surface of the bottom bun. It’s just as well, I suppose, I haven’t eaten at Hardee’s for years and am the better for never having ingested a Philly Cheesesteak Thickburger.
I also agree with you on Coors, but my nephew works for them so I didn’t want to disparage their brew in my highly-read and influential column. I’m sure their stock price would have taken a major hit had I written anything negative.
Did your idea for mayonnaise-fed tuna ever get off the ground?

I might be wrong, but isn't there still a Chic-Fil-A on the ISU campus? That's the only one I've ever eaten at, and boy, was it tasty.
My hubs had Chick-fil-a every week in the State Farm cafeteria. I had no idea how rare a bird this is.

There is a Chick-fil-A at ISU, but I believe you need a student ID to enter the building where it's located.

I received an email today from a woman who works at State Farm. She invited Victor and I to be her guest some time.
The question is, then, why does Bloomington have two locations, and Springfield has none? I'm not normally given to conspiracy theories, but something just doesn't add up here? Who's keeping Chick-fil-A out of Springfield? And why?
